The Park Avenue Tradition

Mount Royal was named by Jacques Cartier in 1535 to honour his French king. The cross was erected at first by Paul Chomedey de Maisonneuve in 1643 and an illuminated cross erected in 1924 by the Saint John the Baptist Society. The mountain is the site of Mount Royal Park, one of Montreal’s largest greenspaces. The designer was the man who set the course for Central Park in New York City, Frederick Law Olmstead, who innovated the plan of our Park which was inaugurated in 1876. The perimeter of the park on the entire north side from Pine Avenue is Park Avenue. The street name is generic and reflects the multi-cultured essence of the community which has evolved around this main street of the Montreal Plateau and Mile-End community. You are Greek, You are Italian, You are Portuguese, You are Jewish: you are Spanish, East Indian, Black, Arabic, Vietnamese, Chinese, Persian, Aboriginal, Irish, Serbian, Armenian, English, or Scottish and you are part of the Park Avenue tradition here. When you ask anybody from the neighbourhood where they live they will tell you “... Up at Park Avenue and ‘whatever’ cross street”. Park Avenue is understood here in 129 languages and frankly We, the People, like it that way and we will fight to keep it this way. Mayor Tremblay and his Executive Council are behaving like tyrants employing methods of governing which were so common in Soviet Moscow! We know how the Russian, Polish, and many other Peoples threw those bums out and perhaps we should learn from them right here in Montreal and throw Tremblay, Fotopoulos and their masonic Shriner goons right out of the building and out of power. Tremblay is carrying out Jacques Parizeau’s wishes to destabilize the immigrant community because we are not “French” enough for his high-handed chauvinist & racist neo-Nazi TONGUEPARTIED plans. I suppose that even a Liberal Premier is good enough for racist francophones (maybe 20%) in the community as long as he is French. Bourassa fits that bill to a Tee. The Principles here stink of tyranny, opportunism, racism against the 80% of citizens here who are NOT FRENCH and the usual corruption we have come to know as the Montreal way of doing things. Who does this tin-pot dictator think he is? He has a dream about Bourassa, a fantasy about honouring his Hero; then he uses a public position to implement his subjective wishes with absolutely no consultation with our People: and in secret! For a Catholic we must say Mr Tremblay certainly embellishes freemasonry in his rotten political methods and attitudes towards those who voted for him, not to mention all of us who did not! All this with his sidekick Helen Fotopoulos the lady who was supposed to be a lady of the people and help the little guy. We have no doubt she helped a few ‘little guys’ –including our little guy mayor pull off his dirty work, but when she was asked to help fight the closure of Maat Book Rooms at 4808 St. Urban Street (at Villeneuve) by Montreal City freemasons running the Permit Department for the City of Montreal in 1999 she began quoting silly Masonic procedures over the telephone and didn’t have time to meet with the owner in the entire one year and a half from the first pogrom (1999) to the final closure (December 31, 2000). It is the position of this Newspaper-Gazette we call ANGLO-FIRE to Fire-Up the population against this vicious, corrupt & opportunist woman who takes care of her nifty little class of opportunists and corrupt arrogant demi-gods like mayor Tremblay. We join in the great chorus of people in the Park Avenue neighbourhood who want her dumped. This little pack of killer jackals we call City Council has got to go and we must keep the good few in there, for a small handful are good, and throw the rest of them in the garbage to merge with all the other garbage we want to get rid of in this neighbourhood. Then our decent people can live and work within a better sense of community and freedom --from every ethnic background we have here. Anyone who doesn’t like that can get off this ruddy Island and move over to the Quebec mainland where racism and the Parti Quebecois what represents racism is stronger. And when we separate our Two Islands of Montreal & Laval into a separate Province, we’ll be rid of this garbage once and for all. Then people may think in whatever language they please without racist French obstructions on cerebral development as human beings. Language is a Human Right everywhere on earth except Quebec! The Park Avenue issue is the tip of a very large racist anti-people iceberg run by primarily French chauvinists (59% of them according to a Leger marketing Poll of january 15/2007) and a few non-French hangers-on and other sorts of Shriners and freemasons! And that is why we will win this fight. If Tremblay and his tyrannical goons decide to ram it through then we will build a resistance to reverse it back and charge him personally the financial cost of the changeovers from the expropriation of his Outremont house and any other assets he procured in his capacity as a politician pretending to represent the people while actually screwing us to death like some kind of French vampire or parasite. The nuclei of four Committees to Resist City Hall have been established in the community since this crappo began in October 2006. WHAT DO THE PEOPLE WANT? We want Park Avenue to stay Park Avenue in name. We want the local tyrants to leave it alone and leave us alone! It used to be a street a few years back that we could cross with our children like any normal main street in any other Montreal neighbourhood community. Then they changed it into a five-lane expressway for all of the people who do not even live along Park Avenue or the adjoining streets: a Yuppie Expressway for people from far away to race to their jobs downtown. Now they want to destroy another historical tradition: the very name of the street which embodies our very history! We will not allow this to happen. If you want to become involved in keeping our Park Avenue the same name that it is now and want the old arrangement to slow the traffic and make it the residential and business street it once was instead of the Yuppie Expressway it is now, then you should join the English Liberation Movement or one of the Ethnic Clubs of the Montreal Liberation Organization (which includes the Islands of Montreal & Laval) We live here and we like the traditions of Park Avenue and the multi-Ethnic nature of the whole neighbourhood. What we like has nothing to do with Helen Fotopoulos’s and Gerald Tremblay’s subjective fantasies, personal desires, wishes or autocratic & tyrannical political objectives!
